Day One - Traveling to Dubai

It's been a travel day today, taking a direct flight form Dublin to Dubai. It's a rather short one too at 7 hours, but taking the time difference into account (3 hours in Dubai) we didn't land until after midnight local time. By the time we processed Visa and Duty Free it was well gone 2am before we got to the hotel and settled down.

At Dublin Airport Vinnie and I had a bit of fun with the @DublinAirport Twitter account. During the month of September they are hiding copies of the book "The Dubliners" around the airport, 5 a day in fact, and we managed to find two of them! We get to keep the book and if we tweet where we bring it to we could end up with vouchers for The Loop Airport Shopping. We hope so anyway and are playing along with their treasure hunt and tasks!

We traveled Emirates and had been expecting amazing things service wise. It may have been the route or just the staff, but it was just okay. The vegan meal we ordered however more then made up for this, it was delicious. We managed to fit in two movies on the way over, Albert Nobbs and There is Something about Kevin, both slow but enjoyable.

Dubai Airport is out of this world. Everything is so clean and spacious. It's screams wealth. After picking up some duty free we took a short taxi ride to our hotel, where we received an upgrade to a room with a view over the Dubai Creek onto Downtown Dubai. That beautiful skyscraper view couldn't be fully appreciated when we arrived due to the darkness and what seems to be fog/smog which was swallowing up the city. Our Crowne Plaza is connect to the Intercontinental right next door, which too is connected to a massive shopping mall, which includes an IKEA! All gym/pool leisure facilities are shared between both hotels, which is handy.
Arrived! At Dubai Airport
It's off to sleep for us, we've a full few days ahead here in Dubai and we can't wait! Good morning/good night from Dubai!
